Grandma’s Banana Bread

Growing up, my Grandma was famous in our family for her banana bread. My mom still makes this recipe today and every time we eat it, it brings back a flood of sweet memories. In celebration of #nationalbananabreadday today, we’re sharing the recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as our family does!

Grandma’s Banana Bread

3 large and very ripe bananas (tip: the darker the banana, the sweeter the bread).

1/2 cup (1 stick) of Butter

2 eggs (well beaten)

3 tablespoons of Sour Cream (key ingredient)

1 teaspoon of Vanilla

1 cup of Sugar

1 teaspoon of Baking Soda

1 teaspoon of Salt

2 cups of All Purpose Flour

1 cup of Walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Combine “wet” ingredients: Bananas, Butter, Eggs Vanilla and Sour Cream.

Add Sugar, Baking Soda, Salt.

Pour half of the flour in batter, mix and then add the remaining flour.

Add-in the walnuts.

Fill a greased loaf pan 1/2 full of batter giving bread room to rise.

Oven cook times vary but bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes on the middle rack. Be careful not to over-bake! Check on it when you smell it and it’s golden brown on top. If you’re unsure, do the toothpick test. If the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done!
